Dennis and I recently had the pleasure of visiting the office of Drs. Mike and Lan O’Donnell in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. This young couple, just barely in their thirties, have created a unique business partnership—teeth and eyes. Studies have shown that when meeting someone for the first time a first impression is formed within four seconds. The basis for this impression is first, does the person have “happy” eyes and make good eye contact and second, does he or she have a nice smile. Mike and Lan are cornering the market on both!

The office is laid out so that all dental patients walk by the eye exam rooms, see the beautiful cabinets of designer glasses, and see artwork displaying the latest trends in eyeware. All optometry patients meet the dental team, see beautiful smiles playing on the Casey educational system, and see the restored smiles of patients waiting for their dental visits. The joint practice, not even four years old yet, is growing in leaps and bounds. Between this location and his other dental practice in DeFuniak Springs, Mike is Becden’s number eight client, year-to-date in 2008 (that’s out of 300 plus clients), quite an accomplishment at his age.

The key guiding values in Mike’s dental practice, which are based on his goal of “providing comprehensive preventative dentistry using progressive technology” include “having an honest reputation in the community”, displaying “competency” in all aspects of the business, “creating value” for his services, and having “synergy among the team”. Kudos to Mike and Lan for their visionary approach to creating two very successful businesses and a great family as well!

ITero Digital Impression System Update

Becden has 20 doctors currently using the system, with more joining our group each month. As of Oct. 24th we have fabricated 1044 restorations with only one case remake of two units!! Unbelievable accuracy! Contact Becky for more information.

Implant Seminar at Becden

Plan to attend Becden’s Fundamentals of Restorative Implant Dentistry seminar on Feb. 20–21, 2009. Dr. Carolyn Wong and Kathi Carlson are the presenters and the course is designed for both doctors and team members. Brochures with details and registration information will be in the mail shortly.
