Technical Tip: The Importance of X-Rays for Fabrication of Implant Stents
By Jeff Bingham, Becden Technical Support

When requesting a laboratory Implant Stent to aid in the surgical placement of implants, it is critical for us to not only see the proposed placement sight on the model, but to also see an x-ray of the area. The x-ray is used to guide us in the angulation of the pilot hole during fabrication of the stent. Proper angulation guides your surgical procedure from start to a completely successful placement.

With models only on this case the pilot hole could easily have followed the narrow line added to the x-ray, rather than the thicker line, which would be followed with the benefit of having an x-ray.
