We’ve all heard the stories of famous people who had rough or bumpy starts. Here’s a few for the record:
In 1959, a Universal Pictures executive dismissed them at the same meeting with the following statements. To Burt Reynolds: “You have no talent.” To Clint Eastwood: “You have a chip on your tooth, your Adam’s apple sticks out too far and you talk too slow.”
He was one of the greatest inventors in American history. When he first attended school in Port Huron, Mich., his teachers complained that he was “too slow” and hard to handle. As a result, Edison’s mother decided to take her son out of school and teach him at home. In his lifetime, Edison produced more than 1,300 inventions.
He entered the Blackhawk War as a captain. By the end of the war, he had been demoted to the rank of private.

Several weeks ago Becden Client, Dr. Erik Bradley, sent me an email to show me a marketing idea his dental assistant, Megan Brewster, created. I was so impressed with the concept and design that I wanted to share it with others.

Megan thought that it would be very powerful to send patients this photo card upon completion of their dental treatment. It is designed to WOW the patient, brag about how talented their dentist is, motivate them to want more, similar treatment done, and possibly even be used by the patient to refer friends and family to Dr. Bradley.
As I showed this example to two different people their response was the same, “If I had other amalgam restorations in my mouth this would definitely motivate me to want to have them removed!”
- Be sure to print this on good quality photo paper.
- Print an extra copy in black and white to keep in the patient’s file for marketing future treatments.
- Create and save dialogues for different types of cases (Smile Makeovers, Posterior Crowns, Whitening, Composites, Implants, etc) so you don’t need to re-think your wording each time. You will simply need to modify the text for each patient.
Kudos to Megan for the great idea and to Dr. Bradley for allowing me to share this with you!
